Jane Poole Art.jpg

an exploration in art.

Jane’s inspiration comes from the beautiful and natural landscapes of her hometown in northern Québec and the St. Lawrence River, as well as her adopted home of Alberta and the contrast between its wide-open prairie skies and sharp mountains.  Art has been a constant influence in Jane’s life whether it’s from teaching painting to students or showing her work in various exhibitions. Since 2011, her work has been shown in the Red Deer College Summer Series, the Art and Chocolate Art Show in Sylvan Lake, the Community Cultivated Show in Calgary, and in solo exhibitions at Central Blends Café, Euphoria, and Higher Ground Café in Calgary. She also exhibited at the Connections 2014, 2015, and 2016 Group Show at the Roberto Ostberg Gallery in Calgary, Alberta.

Jane was one of over 450 Calgary and area visual artists who created and donated original depictions of the Alberta wild rose for The Alberta Flood Rose Project in 2013. These paintings were then auctioned off to raise money for The Canadian Red Cross Flood Relief, with over $25,00 being raised.

Jane's work can also be seen on Drew Martin's album cover for his album "Far From Far". She is currently showing her work  in various locations around the City of Calgary.

Jane has studied Art at Champlain Regional College in Lennoxville, Québec and at Red Deer College in Alberta. She holds an Honors BA in French Language and Literature from  the University of Western Ontario as well as a B.Ed. from the University of Calgary. The summer of 2014 Jane studied at the inaugural year of the Alberta College of Art and Design's new Art Educator's Institute.
